Cylindropuntia fulgida - Chain-fruit Cholla. Nature demonstrates to us the importance of one of the greatest elements that is worth its weight in gold in the desert. Water is essential for us all and our plants have been without for a long stretch of time. Look at the vibrancy of Cholla and the blossoms. I have never seen such health from Cholla before. Such an example of wellbeing! When a life has been deprived of essentials, there is only so much time it can still thrive. When given the resources, the life can then thrive. No brainer. So yes, are you drinking enough water? But are you also taking care of your well-being ? Remember to fill your basket so that you can be able to help others as well. Take this Cholla, now she can be a resource to the pollinators and wildlife because she has been taken care of first.

Ruellia simplex - Mexican Petunia is part of the Acanthaceae family. We inherited another tortoise this Summer and her caregiver recommended Mexican Petunia. Now, I am a Type A nature lover (lol) and took a picture of what I had in my yard to make sure we were talking about the same flower. That’s why I keep stating the scientific name for each plant. There are a number of plants that go by the same common names, but different scientific names. Before I even consider what I feed our tortoises, I need to know the scientific name for safety. Remember , take pictures, not a flower. Walk with Nature and think of your abundance. What is your abundance ?

If you look very closely, there are flowers there for the pollinators. 🤩 Even this one is significant ❤️ If you see this in your area, take a picture and list it in the comments!

It’s a magnificent symbol of how desert plants , as diverse as they all are, can coexist in Nature. It can be done.
